WGW!!

Whitby Gothic Weekends

I found this interesting website during my web surfing and thought I would share. This is all about the biggest Gothic movement/ gathering known as the Whitby Gothic Weekends which happen in April and October.

it was founded by a young woman Jo Hampshire called “Whitby Jo” who stood alone as a goth in a small and small minded town and reached out to others like her in different parts of the country. What began as a casual meeting in 1994 with 200 people, blossomed ten years later into the WGW where large and diverse celebrations, concerts and meetings are held for Goths in every sub genre.

Why Whitby? Because it is legendary for being the landing place of Dracula and because the townsfolk were used to Dracula conventions and thus would not be “too freaked out”.

So visit the site for more information, including an itinerary of events, pictures of past events and to purchase tickets if you wanna join in. if you are in or planning to visit England, take a browse through the site for exact dates for events and take part and have fun!!

I know that this is one trip I NEED to make in this lifetime!!
