I found this interesting article from Ririan Project and wanted to share the information on it. A survey was done in the US with 1000 participants on why they had skipped having sex. The number 1 reason: Too tired! Lol! Other reasons in the top five were health issues, “not in the mood”, taking care of kids and work.
I think we’ve all experienced one or two benefits of sex, here is a run down of the top ten:
1. Stress Reliever: It lowers your blood pressure as well as your overall stress level. One researcher also found that even hugging between partners helps to lower blood pressure!
2. Boost your Immunity: Having sex once or twice a week has been linked to increasing your body’s antibody levels that helps fight off colds.
3. Burn Calories: I’ll bet you didn’t know that 30 minutes of sex can burn 85 calories!
4. Improved Cardiovascular Health: Men having sex twice or more a week were found to have reduced their risk of having a heart attack by half when compared to men who had sex less than once a month. For those who are concerned with the efforts expended in sex, there were some studies that followed over 900 men over a period of 20 years and they found that sex did not increase the risk of having a Stroke.
5. Boost your Self Esteem: In a study done in Texas, boosting self esteem was one of the many reasons people had sex.
6. Improve Intimacy: Sex and orgasms increase the levels of oxytocin in your body. Some dub this hormone the “love” hormone because it allows us to feel the urge to nurture and bond and is also linked with the feeling of generosity.
7. Pain Reduction: When oxytocin rises, the level of endorphins increase and your pain level will decrease.
8. Reduce the Risk for Prostate Cancer: A study linked frequent ejaculations of men in their early 20’s with lowering the risk of Prostate Cancer later in life.
9. Sleep Better: Credit this to oxytocin again! After orgasm the oxytocin that is released promotes sleep!
10. Oh come on! I believe the major benefit is it feels so damn good!! LOL!!
